What is the Hiring & Training Matrix?
The Hiring & Training Matrix is a simple tool that helps you evaluate your team members and decide who to train, promote, or potentially transition out. Think of it as a systematic way to assess your team's capabilities and plan their development.
What This Means:
Instead of guessing about team member performance, this tool gives you a clear, consistent way to evaluate everyone using the same criteria.
The Three Key Areas We Measure
Skill (1-5)
How well they perform their core job responsibilities
Ownership (1-5)
How independently they take initiative, solve problems, and lead
Growth Mindset (Yes/No)
Whether they are eager to grow and develop
How to Use This Tool - Step by Step
1Fill in Basic Info
Enter each team member's name and role in the form.
2Score Their Performance
Use the colorful sliders to assign scores between 1-5 for Skill and Ownership. Select Yes or No for Growth Mindset.
3Let the Matrix Calculate
The tool automatically places them in the correct quadrant and suggests an action plan.
4Flag for Promotion Potential
If someone shows cross-functional or leadership potential, check the "Cross-Promotion Potential" box.
5Review Results
Check the matrix visualization and employee list to see where everyone stands and what actions to take.
